Tech Executive And Former Polycom CEO Andrew Miller Extends Charitable Giving Campaign By Donating To The East Bay Community Foundation
OAKLAND, Calif. (PRWEB) December 04, 2017 -- Former Polycom, Inc. CEO Andy M. Miller is continuing his campaign to increase support for the region’s under-recognized charitable organizations today by donating to the East Bay Community Foundation, which has been a focal point for philanthropic activity in the East Bay area since 1928.
Miller contributed an initial amount of $25,000 to seven local nonprofit groups and launched the “Seven for Seven” initiative on earlier this year by donating to the Javistrong54 Foundation, which is raising money for paralyzed student-athlete Jake Javier. Next, Miller contributed to the Greater Bay Area Chapter of the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, followed by a donation to Moment by Moment, whose professional photographers create portraits of families whose children are battling life-limiting illnesses.
The East Bay Community Foundation granted more than $84 million to local nonprofit organizations last year. Its goal is to “transform the lives of people in the East Bay with pressing needs,” primarily by helping children to succeed during the critical period of birth to third grade, and by enhancing economic opportunities for adults and families. It stewards 500 charitable funds and endowments – including more than 300 donor advised funds – for a variety of purposes, including scholarships and local civic and neighborhood projects.
“The East Bay Community Foundation makes a very real difference across Alameda and Contra Costa counties,” says Miller, who has served as CEO of Polycom and Tandberg, and in other senior positions for companies including Cisco, IPC Systems and Monster Worldwide. “Not only does it provide vital assistance to hundreds of valuable youth and human services programs, it also brings donors together with public-sector and private-sector leaders to address challenges that are too big to be solved by any one of them alone.”
“We appreciate Andy’s support, and the attention his campaign is bringing to our organization,” says Stacey Manley, vice president of communications for the East Bay Community Foundation. “We look forward to following his progress in future ventures, and to developing our relationship into an ongoing partnership.”
